About Alice Ellerbeck, LCSW

Alice Ellerbeck,LCSW-7.jpg

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the State of New York.  I have a Masters in Social Work from New York University, Silver School of Social Work.  I also have a Masters in Education from Brooklyn College.  In addition, I have a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Training Institute for Mental Health, where I attended a three-year post-graduate course of study in psychoanalysis.

In my earlier career, I was a school psychologist for the New York City public schools. In that role, I worked with children and adolescents, as well as their parents, helping kids with ADHD, learning difficulties, and emotional issues to get the help they needed in order to thrive and live fulfilling lives.

I have always been interested in understanding people, and curious about what causes people to behave the way we do. As a child and adolescent, I was exposed to family members who had severe mental health challenges. This laid the foundation for my desire to help others overcome their own difficulties and heal from trauma. I've learned so much from my own therapeutic journey. I have great empathy and respect for my clients as they explore old wounds and patterns of relating that are getting in their way, and begin to heal, grow, and thrive.
